    Pros

I haven't found any pros yet since I am not ranked high enough to do their jobs they have listed, and there are not any available otherwise.

    Cons

The Styleguide is long and drawn out. Making a video tutorial would have been nice. There is nothing else to go on and there aren't enough jobs for beginners to go around. I have been signed up for a week and still have not found a job for my beginner rank (or lack, thereof)

    Pros

Easy to get in and qualify

    Cons

There is a huge bias towards beginners. There is hardly any work for beginners even though the first job I did was approved. Pay is extremely low.

  7. Pros

This company will grant second chances to those who request them, which is much appreciated. The facebook group is extremely useful and is invaluable when needing support. It also lessens the isolation one might otherwise feel in a work-from-home type job such as this.

    Cons

Low pay. Low, low pay. BUT you are getting paid in experience. If you stick with it, you can move on to higher-paying companies.

  8. Pros

Flexible work times; choose jobs at your convenience. Good place to begin if you're inexperienced. Good support staff and community. Bonus-based work with mostly considered feedback.

    Cons

Low pay, especially at beginning. A glut of new workers can mean little to no work available for long stretches of time. The same can be said for higher paying jobs. It's feast or famine, but most of free-lance work is anyway. Editing pay too low. One grader in particular can be difficult to please, perhaps due to the volume of work he takes on.

  10. Former Employee, more than 3 years

    Pros

You can easily get started on work after an online test. This helped me stay on my feet when I couldn't find any formal employment. They offer very friendly and helpful online support for transcribers.

    Cons

Being a hub for freelancers, there are no benefits. You can't really make a living wage at first, you need to prove yourself to be allowed to do better jobs. It's an investment. Your wage is basically tied to how quickly you can type, which can cause strain on your wrists. This just comes with being a transcriber, a career no one should really pursue. The availability of work is inconsistent.
